Scientific visit 14/3

Based on the principle of scientific cooperation between universities and educational institutions and within the annual department curriculum, The Department of Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering held a scientific visit for the fourth year students of the Laser Engineering Branch to the University of Baghdad / Laser Institute for Postgraduate Studies on Monday 3/14/2022 to see the laboratories related to the department and under the supervision of Lec. Dr. (Heba Hassan Abdullah) and Lec.. (Ali Hamid Abdul-Hadi) and Asisstant lec. (May Abdul-Karim Abdul-Jabbar). They were received by Dr. Laila Mohamed Hassan, then an inspection tour took place that included a visit to the medical clinics department to see the most important lasers used in dermatology, dental and eye clinics, in addition to industrial laser laboratories that employ lasers in cutting and welding operations. 

 

The university’s blood donation campaign

Under the patronage of President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. (Ahmed Al-Ghabban), the Environmental Research Center, in cooperation with the Public Health Department / Ministry of Health, hold the University Health Day initiative on Tuesday and Wednesday (15-16/3/2022), and a number of our department’s employees participated The initiative’s events and activities, including participation in the university’s blood donation campaign. 

 

Scientific Symposium 3/3/2022

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. (Ahmed Al-Ghabban), the Department of Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering held a scientific symposium titled (optoelectronics and its advanced applications) on Thursday 3/3/2022 in the department hall. Prof. Dr. (Mohammed J Abdul Razzaq), the scientific assistant, gave the speech of the head of the department. The sessions was chaired by Assistant Prof. Dr. (Abdullah K Abbas) and Lecturer Dr. (Israa Q Hamid), as its rapporteur. The session included four lectures:

(Optical reagents and their use in electro-optical systems) delivered by Prof. Dr. (Raid Abdel Wahab Ismail).
(Trends and applications in optoelectronics) delivered by Assistant Prof. Dr. (Ali Abdel-Khaleq Abdel-Hadi).
(Semiconductors in Environmental Sensor Technology) delivered by Prof. Dr. (Amir Faisal Abdul Amir).
(Wireless Optical Communications Underwater) delivered by Assistant Prof. Omar Namir Muhammad.

After the scientific symposium session ended, recommendations were discussed and organized to be a focus for future work and the certificates were distributed.

Human Rights Training Course

The assistant teacher (Alaa Hassan Idan), a faculty member in our department, participated in the training course with the participation of many Iraqi university professors in the High Commission for Human Rights in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the period from (13-22/2/2022) in the National Office of the Commission. The intensive training course included the mechanisms of human rights and advocacy, the declaration of human rights defenders, freedom of association and advocacy, the right to peaceful assembly, effective remedy, networking for advocacy, freedom of opinion and expression and legal protection, as this course is one of the most important courses that enrich university professors with information about International laws and treaties related to human rights, especially the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education to develop human rights as a scientific curriculum in universities and institutes. At the conclusion of the training course, Ms. (Alaa Hassan Idan), a teaching staff member in our department and a member of the special committee of the national plan for human rights, the university and the two teachers Assistant Prof. (Harith Youssef Issa) and Lecturer (Nahaya Muhammad Abd Ali) received a training certificate in advocating for human rights. human rights .

Outstanding Researcher 2022

Assistant Prof. Dr. (Makram A. Fakhri) obtained the title of outstanding researcher for the year (2022) according to the classification approved by Al-Ain University for researchers in all of Iraq. It relied on solid platforms to evaluate researchers, and the winning announcement of this award was a reflection of his scientific work in these global platforms through his scientific publication of a large number of research and citations (quotations) for his published research as well as the evaluation of a large number of research in international scientific journals and member of the editorial board of a number of International journals indexed within Scopus. On Tuesday, 1/3/2022 in Dhi Qar Governorate, Al Ain University held a scientific festival ceremony attended by a large number of university presidents. The goal of the ceremony, which was sponsored by the President of Al-Ain University Prof. Dr. (Shafiq Shaker Shafiq) to encourage researchers And motivate them to further excellence, creativity and scientific competition, raise the level of scientific research outputs in universities in terms of quantity and quality, and encourage publication in reputable scientific journals, to achieve global knowledge spread, and contribute to raising the local scientific level. Arab and international.

 

Researchers honored 21/2/2022

On the occasion of obtaining the 251 rank in the British Times classification 2022, the University of Technology held a celebration in the presence of the President of the University of Technology, on February 21, 2022. The president of the university said in a speech on this occasion that we are all in the University of Technology with the highest degree of pride in our university, adding that this great event that we are present today to celebrate is that the University of Technology is ranked 251 out of all the young universities in the world. The speech of the distinguished researchers who made a significant contribution to the university's obtaining this achievement was delivered by the head of the Department of Applied Sciences, who expressed in a short word his joy at this achievement. At the end of the celebration, the researchers were honored by the President of the University in terms of the number of research published in Scopus and Clarivate, including the two faculty members in our department, Assistant Professor Dr. Makram A Fakhriy and Assistant Professor Dr. Abdula Khudaier Abbas.

 Optical Biosensor for The Detection of Gram Positive and Gram Negative Bacteria Using Laser and Other Light Sources

 On Thursday, 3/2/2022, the thesis was accepted and the student was awarded a master's degree

MSc Thesis Defense 30/1

The thesis of a master's student (Abdul Rahman Amin Abdul Rahman) specializing in laser engineering was discussed on his thesis:
( Performance Analysis of Hybrid Optical Communication System Utilizing Wide Band Hybrid Fiber Amplifier )
On Monday, 31/1/2022, the thesis was accepted and the student was awarded a master's degree.

MSc Thesis Defense 9/2

The thesis of a master's student (Abbas Sattar Abdel-Zahra) specializing in optoelectronics engineering was discussed about his thesis:
( Improving nonlinearity tolerance in optical transmission systems that employ multidimensional modulation formats )
On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, the thesis was accepted, and the student was awarded a master's degree.

Scientific Activity (Prof. Dr. Abdulhadi K Judran)

As a scientific activities of our department, Prof. Dr. (AbdulHadi Kazem Judran), a member of the faculty in our department has been participated in the membership of a committee to discuss the master’s student (Noor Hamid Nassif) / Department of Physics Sciences for her thesis entitled: (Studying the effect of cementing with mineral salt on some physical properties of a polymeric composite) The discussion took place on Thursday, 3/2/2022 in the Dean’s Hall of the College of Science, and Prof. Dr. (Abdul-Hadi Kazem Gedran) was awarded a letter of thanks and appreciation from the Dean of the College of Science in appreciation of the outstanding efforts made.
