Within the scientific activities of our department, the participation of Prof. Dr. (Ali Hadi Abdel Moneim), a faculty member in our department headed by the Comprehensive Examination Committee for PhD Student (Mohammed Fouad Majid Hamid) / Physics Department for the tagged research: ( Numerical Design and simulation of Plasmonic Photonic Crystal Fiber for Biosenser Applications ) Note that the date of the written exam was from Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (14,15, 16/12/2021). The oral exam will be on Wednesday 29/12/2021
Workshop on human rights in Iraqi universities
The participation of the assistant lecturer (Alaa Hassan Idan) in our department in the specialized workshop entitled (Reading for Human Rights Curricula), which was held by the High Commission for Human Rights in cooperation with the Horizon Organization for Human Development and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on 20/12/2021. The Director of the Publication and Education Department delivered At the Commission, Akram Okla gave a lecture on the (Cairo Declaration for the dissemination and education of human rights) and its important articles in preserving the rights of the individual and the family in building society, the equality of women and men with rights, the rights of the child to obtain physical and health care and education, as well as materials related to promoting a culture of peace and belonging Then the trainer at the Commission in Baghdad office, Baraa Najeeb, presented a survey study that included indicators and percentages about the human rights subject taught in Iraqi universities and institutes, indicating that the material is often placed to complete the teaching quorum.

The participation of the assistant lecturer (Alaa Hassan Idan) in our department in a workshop to develop strategies for the scientific Olympiad programs and tests of memory, intelligence and the gifted, which was set up by the Ministry of Youth and Sports - Department of Scientific Care, which lasted for five days in Erbil Governorate 12-25 / 12 / 2021.
University Chess Championship
The Department of Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering won the first place in the University of Technology Chess Championship for female students through the championship competitions held by the Student Activities Department for the academic year 2021-2022 in cooperation with the Iraqi Central Chess Federation on the department hall on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 with the participation of 47 male and 13 female students representing departments the University. The student (Ruwaida Saad Mohsen) obtained (5 points) by winning the full mark in the five rounds. A number of female students from our department have participated in this tournament, they are (Ruwaida Saad Mohsen), (Sarah Saad) and (Zahra Salman), in addition to the participation of the student team, which are (Tareq Saad Ibrahim), (Hossam Muhammad Nazem) and (Abdul Samad) Abbas Hammoudi).

Honoring Osama Zaid Faleh
The assistant head of research (Osama Zaid Faleh) was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his active participation in the first cultural festival of the University of Technology for Literature and Arts (the course of the great poet Muhammad Hussein Al Yassin), which was held under the auspices of the respected president of the University of Technology in the hall of the Department of Control and Systems Engineering on 20 December.

Scientific visit 14/12
In the context of exchanging scientific experiences between our department and the corresponding departments in public universities, a number of students from the Department of Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering at Al-Nahrain University conducted a scientific visit to the laboratories of the Department of Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering at the University of Technology on Tuesday, 14/12/2021. During the visit, the students and the delegation supervising the visit were briefed on the most important experiments and specialized laboratory equipment for the advanced study stages (the third and fourth stages).

Scientific visit 15/12
Based on the joint scientific cooperation between the scientific and engineering departments at the University of Technology, the students of the Department of Applied Sciences / Laser Science and Technology (fourth stage) conducted a scientific visit to the optical communications laboratory in our department on Wednesday, 12/15/2021. During the visit, the students were briefed on the most important laboratory experiments, including (studying the basic properties of light-emitting diode and studying the properties of semiconductor lasers) and the scientific lecture given by the assistant lecturer (Safa Salam Radhi) and in the presence of Assistant Prof. Dr. Makram Abdel Muttalib Fakhry, the head of Optoelectronics Engineering Branch.

The department’s students’ team participated in the University of Technology Cultural Festival for student debates on Tuesday, 30/11/2021, in the Department of Production and Metallurgy, at the hall of the late Mr. Jassem Shehab Al-Hayani, and within the competitions of the third group. Honoring Ceremony
The employees of our department, the engineer (Saddam Sabah Katheer) and the assistant head of research (Osama Zaid Faleh) were honored by the president of the university for their effective contribution to the success of the celebration that was held on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the Iraqi state, which was held on Thursday, 9/12/2021 in the hall of the Department of Control and systems Engineering.

Our department held a workshop for teaching staff and postgraduate students (research stage) on Wednesday, 16/11/2021, and it was given by Prof. Dr. (Qusay Fadel Abdel Hamid), editor-in-chief of the Engineering and Technology Journal at the University of Technology aiming introducing the requirements of scientific publishing in the Journal of Engineering and Technology

The Phenomenon of Bullying
The Psychological Guidance and Educational Guidance Unit in the department held an awareness lecture entitled (The Phenomenon of Bullying) on Thursday, 18/11/2021 for students of the second stage/Optical Electronics Engineering Branch, in order to enhance the student’s self-confidence, as this phenomenon began to take a serious turn that leaves bad effects on the students. The reality of higher education in general and the reality of the environment in which the internal departments live in particular, because this phenomenon is a type of abuse and social violence (verbal and physical). The lecture was delivered by the assistant teacher (Roaa Shaker Mahmoud), and in the presence of the head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, the assistant professor, Dr. (Suad Mahmoud Kadhem).
